Welcome to Cotswold Lavender, nestled in the hills above

Broadway in Snowshill, Worcestershire. For a few fleeting

weeks every year—from mid-June to early August—the

fields erupt in bloom, a sea of violet stretching over 40

acres, as far as the eye can see. This isn’t just a visit; it’s a

midsummer spell

Cotswold Lavender began in 1999 as a family-run dream on

the rolling Cotswold hills. Inspired by the area’s free-

draining limestone soil and gentle breeze, the farm started

with a handful of rows and now flourishes with over 35

varieties. They still use traditional steam distillation to

create pure lavender oil on-site.

🌾 What to Expect

Come early in the day for that golden morning haze, or

arrive late afternoon when the shadows are long and the

purple glow seems almost unreal. Wander through theperfumed rows, lose yourself among the buzzing bees and

fluttering butterflies, and take in the view from the wooden

viewing platform at the top of the hill.

Kids laugh, couples linger, and the hum of nature sets the

pace. Here, the world slows down—and you’ll be glad it

did.

At the edge of the fields, a humble wooden kiosk awaits

with lavender shortbread, fragrant honey, handmade soaps

and oils, and the real star—lavender ice cream. It’s creamy,

delicate, and unlike anything you’ve ever tasted. Sit on a

shaded bench, cone in hand, and breathe in the air steeped

in sunshine and serenity.

After wandering through lavender fields and snapping a
hundred dreamlike photos, return to Cheltenham for an
early evening wind-down.

Start with a coffee or cocktail at Café Boho or The Find—
both local favourites with outdoor seating and artisan
menus. If you’re looking to carry that rustic romance into
your evening, book a table at L’Artisan, a charming French
bistro nestled on Clarence Parade.

For something casual, The Tavern serves modern British
plates with a twist and a relaxed, social vibe. If your feet
still have a little adventure left, wander through Montpellier
Gardens, where the trees whisper stories and the town’s
Georgian elegance shines.
Cheltenham, like the lavender fields, moves at its own
graceful pace.

And in June, they pair like sunshine and a
breeze—one vivid, one calming, both unforgettable
